This dress is the first in an EXCLUSIVE collection of dresses by Kiki Hamann called "Once Upon A Time."
Little Red Riding Hood has stepped out of the pages of the first printed version of this tale by Charles Perrault, in 17th Century France.
This dress features a total of 6 different fabrics of all kinds in a composition that is absolutely illustrative of Fairy Tale Stories. A lot of fabric engineering went into this piece as well as a lot of hand sewing, just like in the old days. To represent the era, richer jeweled tones were used versus modern bright colors.
The bodice of the dress is made from Golden Shantung, covered in beige translucent Organza, stripped with Chenille thread. Organza flowers are the center element because the little girl in the story was known to hand pick flowers from the forest!
It has a triple layered skirt. Beautiful French Gobelin Style fabric was used for the first part of the skirt. It features a beautiful shade of deep blood red and small and subtle flowers. A top double skirt is added, in shimmer Golden shantung. It opens up just like the pages of a book...it is all about the story telling! More rich trim is added to the over skirt! The fully armed skirt is lined in off white tulle, so it sits beautifully armed at all times.
And for the pièce de résistance... the cape! Dramatic and fun, crushed velvet, trimmed in golden. The cape is just as beautiful worn with or without the hood.
Flowers applied to the dress… flowers on the fabric.. and of course hand picked flowers for Granny in a cute little basket. Fairy Tales do come true and have happy endings!
